Job Description The Contract Operations Manager role is a senior managerial position with responsibility for the distribution function of our Michelin Contract. The individual must drive continuous improvement and further develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium and cost effective service for our customer. They must take a proactive approach to reviewing the ways of working to ensure service levels are met in the most cost efficient manner & fully engage any customer initiatives at the depot. Strategically, the COM must ensure that business plans are in place to achieve targets and drive operational performance and growth. Management experience is key within this position as you will oversee a team of 12 direct reports, performance managing and delegating their day-to-day tasks. Due to the nature of the role some travel will be required to other outbases, so an element if flexibility is needed. The successful candidate will need Transport CPC What will you be doing? Overall management and control of the transport operation covering the whole of UK and Ireland Responsible for meeting all financial targets for the contract, with the desire to exceed these, and take actions required to keep these on track. Based on the customers site, you will be the key representative for Great Bear and responsible for maintaining strong business relationships with the customer. You must exceed customer key performance measures, hold regular customer reviews both managing and developing client relationships Full accountability for a 24/6 multidrop operation providing a next day delivery service into both a high street and wholesale infrastructure Accountable for the management of all resources – both employees and those of the network of regional partners Responsible for managing and developing the transport operation through a small office based team, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to deliver best in class operations. Directing, motivating and developing team members, providing effective leadership and direction to the Transport Department Controlling an operation with 30 units, 70 members of staff, operating from the Stoke base and a number of outbase locations. Management of staff at outbase locations together with enhancing relationships of both regional partners and service providers will require site visits Assume responsibility for managing Health & Safety, Personnel issues and Facilities across all sites, facilitating compliance with all in house and statutory legislation in regard to Health & Safety and statutory Transport rules and regulations. Ensuring the Companies Operator Licences are maintained efficiently and accurately at all times. Ensuring all day to day operational requirements consistently meet the customers’ expectations, developing and implementing new initiatives and projects with the customer
