Due to an increased investment, and demand for OT input, to support acute discharge planning, we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced B5 OT, to work as part of our neurosciences team, who is looking to progress to a B6 after completing agreed competencies. This will be as part of our B6 Neurosciences OT rotation.
This post is a full time (1 wte) or part time (0.6 WTE) opportunity working primarily in neurosurgery & neurology services, however, is part of the wider neurosciences team, with close links to the hyper acute stroke, stroke rehabilitation, and spinal service. This allows staff to gain a wider experience and knowledge across neurosciences according to the service needs, with the possibility of working in the other clinical areas in future.

We are offering this as a progressive post, to give you an opportunity to grow into a B6 clinician by completing competencies over a period of approximately 12 months, depending on hours, and existing experience/skills.
The successful postholder will gain experience in:
•Manage a clinical caseload with proficient prioritisation
•Learn to assess and treat complex patients (including but not limited to; moving and handling, pressure care, managing family dynamics, discharge planning, respiratory and neurological conditions)
•Learn leadership and management skills, through courses and practical experience
•Engage in training and development opportunities, both for self and others
•Lead on service development projects, working with the therapy colleagues and the wider MDT
•Supervise B3-5 staff and support both OT and Physio students on placement
This post is part of the wider Therapy services department. You will have many opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge through our in-service training. You will be part of a large department of over 300wte Therapy staff including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support staff.
