Position Overview:
The Global Category Manager will be responsible for leading sourcing activities for Motors, Drive and Engines while working collaboratively with Category Managers and other Commodity Managers within the Global Category Sourcing division. This position is based in Manchester, UK.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Develop comprehensive global category-specific strategies, both short term & long-term strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders.
2. Develop and implement sustainable supplier strategies that align with business needs via evaluating current supplier landscape, capacity, capability, and competitiveness.
3. Develop & implement category-specific cost models and cost-driver visibility.
4. Lead global cost reduction initiatives and conduct regular cost benchmarking to ensure market/cost competitiveness.
5. As a Core team member across value streams, participate in new product development initiatives by evaluating new suppliers and their capabilities and provide recommended sourcing/buy strategies.
6. Manage supplier performance by engaging with cross-functional business partners to drive supplier performance improvement initiatives.
7. Ensure full compliance to governance and best practices as it relates to sourcing, supplier selection, cost evaluation, cost change approvals, and supplier selection processes.
8. Conduct supplier, commodity, and procurement market risks on an ongoing basis and develop risk-mitigation plans.
9. Understand plant operations and provide critical supply solutions as needed.
10. Develop and implement annual cost reduction initiatives.
11. Drive supplier consolidation to reduce supply chain complexity.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
2. College Diploma in Supply Chain Management considered an asset.
3. Supply Chain Management Certification (SCMP), Institute for Supply Management (ISM) certification, or Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification considered a strong asset.
4. Significant work experience in procurement and category in industrial/manufacturing sectors.
5. Substantial work experience in global sourcing and category management.
6. Direct experience with high-impact commodities such as Motors (induction, permanent magnet), integrated drives and engines is preferred.
7. Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in multi-site settings, including an international supply chain environment.
8. Hands-on experience developing and implementing best-practices specific to cost management, supplier management, and risk mitigation.
9. Strong understanding and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, specifically in an industrial manufacturing setting.
10. Sound knowledge and experience in working with system-based categorization and producing procurement-specific reports.
11. Ability to work well independently as part of a team within a time-sensitive environment.
12. Exceptional data analytic capabilities.
13. High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
14. Self-motivated to achieve annual goals and objectives.
15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
16. Strong interpersonal skills and proven people-management experience.
