Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust:
NRU is a 16-bedded unit providing specialist rehabilitation for adults who have a neurological condition or injury, for example a brain injury or stroke. Patients are offered regular care plan meetings during their admission to discuss their progress before being discharged home, into residential / nursing care or to slow stream rehabilitation.
BIU is a 9-bedded unit providing specialist rehabilitation for people aged 16-65 who have had a brain injury, the cause of which could include trauma, lack of oxygen to the brain or a brain tumour. This unit supports patients with highly complex needs including those in prolonged disorders of consciousness and with tracheostomy. Patients are offered a family meeting to discuss their progress, goals and next steps in treatment, before being discharged to the NRU, another community hospital, a specialist rehabilitation centre outside UHL, a specialist nursing home or home.
Applications will be welcomed from experienced therapists with an interest in developing specialist skills in acute care and also from Band 5 therapists who are able to work independently with both dysphagia and communication. You will be expected to demonstrate completion of Level B of the RCSLT Dysphagia Training and Competency Framework as part of the application process. Ideally, the successful applicant will also have completed or be working towards competencies in videofluoroscopy and/or tracheostomy management.
