Job Title: Senior Quality and Governance Officer

Reports to – Directors (Academic & Operations) of VCAD
Overview:
The Senior Quality and Governance Officer is a new role for the Victoria College of Art and Design (VCAD) and reflects our commitment to developing good governance practices and leading an excellent student experience.
The role is based at the campus in Canary Wharf but there may be requirements to travel to our other UK campuses. VCAD currently has two campuses in London, Canary Wharf and Borough along with one in both Manchester and Leeds.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Leading and Managing the VCAD Quality Team.
* Collaborating positively and collegiately with our partner universities.
* Lead on the development and implementation of - 1. VCAD Quality and Standards Framework and 2. VCAD Governance Framework.
* Assist the VCAD Directors and other VCAD colleagues in ensuring compliance with the Office for Students (OfS) Regulatory Framework. Ensure that VCAD policies and key documents comply with relevant UK legislation, as well as the regulations and directives of the Office for Students.
* Lead on designing and managing the delivery of VCAD's Quality Assurance, such as programme approval, programme review, module evaluation, continuous improvement, external examiners, and student experience surveys.
* Service a range of appropriate VCAD committees including preparing agendas, collating papers, collaborating with the Chairs, taking and documenting formal minutes, and ensuring that follow-up actions are completed on time.
* Contribute, as required, to the writing of committee papers.
* Develop an expert knowledge of internal quality assurance and governance mechanisms and provide appropriate advice to VCAD colleagues.
* Develop expert knowledge of national regulation and advisory bodies including the Office for Students, Quality Assurance Agency and the Competition and Markets Authority.
* Write coherent and easily understood guidance documents on various policy and governance themes for distribution to VCAD personnel.
* Develop the use and interrogation of qualitative and quantitative data in monitoring the performance of the VCAD academic portfolio.
* It is expected that the post-holder will be a professional and well-organised individual, capable of managing their workload, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, and handling sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
* All staff are expected to collaboratively and professionally follow VCAD policies.
About You: - We are looking for someone who has:
Senior Officer or Managerial level of experience in a Higher Education setting or similar.
* Good knowledge of legislation, regulation and statutory guidance concerning Higher Education in England and the UK.
* Demonstratable leadership skills in a previous role.
* A Bachelor’s degree or significant work experience relevant to the role.
* Advanced knowledge of appropriate software, in particular the Microsoft 365 package.
* Experience of working with a recognised Student Information System (SIS).
* Experience in servicing meetings including writing agendas, writing papers, minute taking and managing follow-up on actions.
* Experience in working independently to strict deadlines.
* Experience of one or more Higher Education Quality Assurance procedures such as programme validation and approval, annual programme review and student surveys.
* Experience of writing detailed and easily understood guidance documents for colleagues.
* Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with a skill for presenting complex information in plain and easily understood English.
