Job Description
At Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation and sustainability within the cruise industry. Managing the entire cruise ship-building process for Carnival Corporation, the world's largest cruise company, we are committed to excellence and environmental stewardship from initial concept to post-delivery across all brands.
The Role
We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer with a specialty in Decarbonisation & Fuel. This role is pivotal in leading our efforts towards sustainable marine engineering, acting as the subject matter expert within the decarbonisation discipline for plan approval activities, focusing specifically on environmental systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Stay informed on the latest developments within the decarbonisation and fuel disciplines, implementing these advancements on board our vessels.
* Play an integral role in the design and development of new vessels, including negotiating specifications and associated documents with builders, contractors, and brands.
* Provide, manage, and apply technical expertise in marine engineering decarbonisation to the design, construction, and conversion of passenger vessels, as well as to the operation of the existing fleet.
This position is classified as CCS06 and is full-time, based primarily in our fantastic Southampton office (Carnival House), under a hybrid working scheme. The role requires a minimum of three days a week on-site, with the nature of our work also necessitating time spent in shipyards, on ships, visiting suppliers, and other locations.
About You
We recognise the value of diversity in backgrounds, experiences, and skills. Our ideal candidate is someone who brings fresh ideas and different perspectives, alongside:
* Proven experience in cruise shipbuilding environments.
* Expertise in the design of LNG fueled ships or significant experience as a decarbonisation engineer or expert.
* Demonstrated ability to negotiate independently with external parties, including shipbuilders, suppliers, and classification societies.
We understand there's more to life than work. At Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding, you'll enjoy a range of benefits designed to support your personal and financial well-being, while also making work rewarding and enjoyable.
Flexibility and Inclusion
We work flexibly and are committed to helping you find a healthy balance between remote working and time spent in our office. We welcome discussions about flexible hours to ensure you can thrive in both your professional and personal life.
Diversity is our strength, and we believe in the value of having people from various backgrounds, experiences, and skills. Therefore, see this role's requirements as a guide, not a checklist. If you have different experiences or skills but are passionate and relevantly skilled, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note due to the high volume of applications, we may close our adverts early and cannot consider applications once closed. Don't miss this opportunity to contribute to our journey towards more sustainable cruising and create unforgettable holiday happiness.
