The successful candidate will provide comprehensive secretarial support to clinical teams within the departments, as well as interesting and varied admin duties. Candidates will need excellent communication skills, the ability to work under minimal supervision and the ability to meet deadlines. Previous secretarial experience is essential, as is knowledge of the various referral to treatment policies and procedures. RSA III in word processing or equivalent is an essential requirement to undertake this varied and interesting role, along with GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths. Knowledge and experience in using PAS, PPM and EPRO is desirable but not essential as we offer support and training through a structured period of induction, and opportunities for professional development in a supportive environment. Main duties of the job Provide a comprehensive secretarial service to a group of clinicians working in both the stroke and neurology departments. Be the departmental super-user/system administrator for voice recognition and digital dictation Support the clinical teams in the delivery of excellent patient care by actively working with colleagues and other Departments to ensure that all patients registered within the service are proactively supported through their patient journey (This would include but is not limited to: liaising with the relevant MDT teams about fast track patients and escalating clinically urgent patients Maintain the stroke consultant's on call rota, working closely with the clinical lead for stroke. Assist with data gathering for the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme, working closely with the data co-ordinator. Support the clinical teams in the delivery of excellent patient care by actively working with colleagues and other Departments to ensure that all patients registered within the service are proactively supported through their patient journey (This would include but is not limited to: liaising with the relevant MDT teams about fast track patients and escalating clinically urgent patients to the relevant staff groups for action where required). Ensuring all phone calls are answered within the department during core office hours Opening and dealing with departmental post and allocating resulting work to appropriate staff. About us The Neurology and stroke departments are based in Martin Wing at Leeds General Infirmary and are part of the Centre for Neurosciences CSU. There are currently 18 neurology consultants, 10 stroke consultants, 7 Senior Registrars, 15 specialist nurses, 15 secretaries, 2 Multiple Sclerosis co-ordinators, 1 Parkinson's Disease co-ordinator, 1 Business Manager, 1 Patient Services Co-ordinator, 1 Assistant Patient Services Co-ordinator, 1 SSNAP data co-ordinator and 4 admin clerks currently working in Neurology.
