Within our Global Coating R&D Department in Sassenheim (Netherlands) we are looking for: Coatings Research Interns
Our R&D teams focus on developing new technologies to grow and innovate our coating businesses throughout the world. We support well respected brands like Dulux, Sikkens, Hammerite and Cuprinol. We develop technologies for Decorative and Industrial products, applied on wood, metal or wall substrates, with applications ranging from exterior and interior wood protection (cladding, doors and window frames, garden fences, interior furniture and floors) to corrosion protection in the automotive, aerospace or wind industries. Our internships offer a wide variety of research topics, including polymer chemistry, physical chemistry, material science, formulation and rheology.
The placement can last from 6 to 12 months, and starting date is the 1st September
Please note, that we are looking for multiple interns
What could the internship involve?
1. Work on specific research projects for new technilogies and/or products in the field of wood or metal coatings
2. Have the opportunity to design, execute and present your own project
3. Work in the lab on formulation and testing of coating products
4. Develop scientific insights to understand coating and substrate properties
5. Work within an international project organization in multi-disciplinary teams
What do you need to have to be successful in this Internship?
6. On-going study to get a Bachelor / Master’s degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Polymer Chemistry / Material science / Formulation
7. Good knowledge of the English language
8. Curiosity to learn all about our coatings and ways of protecting wood/metal/wall…
9. Affinity for research work on new technologies
10. Interest in lab work, paint formulations and other aspects of coatings
11. Good communication skills
12. Being a Team Player
