About us | Whakapa mai: Our Fleet Services team sits within our New Zealand Operations – National Transport division and plays a vital role in Fonterra's global success. It’s responsible for optimising the resource allocation and maintenance programmes on over 500 milk collection tankers nationwide.
About the opportunity | Te whai waahi: Due to an internal secondment, our Darfield site is looking for a motivated and professional Heavy Automotive Technician to join our highly skilled and engaged Fleet Services team on a 15-month fixed term contract.
Working in a high spec workshop facility, on a modern European milk tanker/trailer fleet with OEM tooling and diagnostics, you’ll be responsible for automotive electrical diagnostics as well as mechanical servicing and repairs.
We know the best equipment needs the best people looking after it - practical and efficient problem solvers – so you’ll be key to ensuring our vehicles meet our high food safety quality standards as well as all legal and health and safety requirements.
As an experienced diesel mechanic, you’ll be confident identifying faults both with breakdowns on the road and during day-to-day workshop repairs. Your proactive approach will also see you driving continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop to improve tanker reliability.
About you | Moe koe: We are looking for a dedicated individual with a strong work ethic, highly developed problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude. We want to hear from you if you have:
* Solid heavy vehicle/diesel mechanic experience, ideally on European trucks
* A NZQA heavy vehicle trade certificate (Level 4) – this is essential as well as a clean Class 4 (Ideally Class 5) NZ driver’s license.
* Strong electrical diagnostic skills and focus on asset care - driving towards world class fleet reliability.
* Self-motivated, great communication skills and ability to work well with others.
* Good computer skills across a range of platforms.
