Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the ongoing design, development, and implementation of the Trust's improvement framework, ensuring the infrastructure, resources, and processes to support workstreams within the system including:
1. Leading for improvement
2. Strategy deployment
3. Daily continuous improvement
4. Step change / rapid improvement of Trust priorities
5. Building capacity and capability for operational excellence and improvement
2. Lead on the establishment and ongoing management of the Improvement Team, including the recruitment and development of the team to create an expert central resource for the organization.
3. Act as a role model, providing coaching and facilitation to senior leaders, staff, patient groups, and the Trust Leadership Team to build leadership management and improvement skills, knowledge, and understanding.
4. Support Executive Leaders to align corporate portfolios, governance arrangements, and support teams to the operating model.
5. Provide clear professional and managerial leadership to the team, creating a team that is highly skilled, effective, engaged, and motivated.
6. Production of regular progress reports and support to problem-solve a range of programme barriers.
7. Communication / Relationships:
1. Use highly developed leadership and influencing skills to enthuse, motivate, and involve individuals and teams across the Trust, ensuring they understand and work to achieve the Trust Strategy in line with the values and behaviours.
2. Employ intellectual skills to look beyond existing structures and produce more effective and innovative performance delivery aligned to operational excellence.
3. Demonstrate political judgement and astuteness in understanding and working with complex policy and diverse interest groups.
4. Manage communications and engagement of stakeholders (internal/external) through the life cycle of various improvement programmes and projects, reporting progress to the Executive sponsors.
5. Work in partnership with leads for Patient Engagement and Experience and patient/service user groups to promote the inclusion of patients and families in all elements of improvement and service redesign.
6. Provide strategic leadership for the development of the MYTT Improvement Community, linking with local, national, and international partners to ensure best practice in improvement and operational excellence is shared with the organization.
8. Performance and Improvement:
1. Apply robust programme management methods to support the implementation of the MYTT improvement approach across the Trust, including programme plans, key performance measures, visual improvement and delivery boards, and reporting mechanisms.
2. Provide strong leadership to a range of improvement projects and programmes supported by the Improvement team, which are likely to be high profile with significant potential strategic, financial, and reputational impact.
3. Ensure excellent links between the Improvement team and corporate and clinical functions.
4. Represent the Trust with partner organizations, working closely with them to institute integrated working in the best interests of patient care.
5. Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders across Wakefield, Kirklees, and beyond, engaging them in the design and delivery of projects within the Trust's strategic priorities.
6. Ensure delivery of benefits and that all improvement plans are realistic, with responsibilities for implementation owned and the schedule of benefits delivery congruent with the overall financial and budgeting approach.
7. Support and challenge Clinical Divisions to deliver and realize the benefits agreed from project and programme implementation, ensuring these benefits are sustainable.
8. Report on benefits realization to key governance groups, including the resources committee and Executive Directors meetings.
9. Monitor and report on programme delivery with a focus on benefits realization against agreed improvement metrics.
10. Prioritize and coordinate programmes across Clinical Divisions, working with the Executive Team and Divisions to agree priorities for improvement projects.
11. Build an effective cross-Division network to ensure sharing of best practices in day-to-day work and implementation of change.
9. Champion and support the embedding of the Mid Yorkshire Quality Improvement System (MYQIS):
1. Provide support and leadership to MYQIS.
2. Suggest further transformation based on best practices.
3. Recommend Transformation and Improvement projects for implementation across the organization.
4. Prioritize future opportunities for improvement.
10. Workforce:
1. Manage and lead teams effectively, complying with all Trust policies and procedures.
2. Act as an ambassador for the Trust in professional and public settings.
3. Promote sharing and dissemination of knowledge and innovative practice.
4. Maintain own professional development and support others in the team.
5. Organize and present transformation events/learning workshops to share improvement across the local health economy and Trust staff.
6. Participate in the Senior Manager on call/Executive On call rota supporting senior managers in delivering effective services out of hours.
