About the Opportunity As we grow our UK space focused business, we are seeking a Space Subject Matter Expert who can demonstrate experience and significant knowledge in the fields of Space Exploration, Operations and Space Data Benefits Realisation in the Commercial Space sector. We are seeking a resource that can position our company as a leader in the UK Space sector by significantly add to the space heritage and credibility that comes from our 50 years involvement the sector in the US with NASA. Space encompasses many technical disciplines, and whilst not expected to be an expert in everything, suitable candidates will have relevant detailed technical experience across multiple space disciplines, and a strong understanding of the technical requirements for the global space ecosystem. In addition, as this is very much a business growing and winning role, suitable candidates will demonstrate a passion for space and developing a space business, together with a proven business winning mentality and skills set. Being part of a small team in a larger organisation, working to pivot that organisation towards the UK Space sector, the successful candidate must demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and be able to mobilise and inspire diverse virtual teams to successfully pursue relevant growth opportunities in a fast moving environment. Key responsibilities include: - Act as a Space Solutions Architect for our company in the UK Space sector, by identifying and pursuing space-focused value propositions, pivoting and enhancing existing organisation capabilities from both the space and non-space sectors. - By bringing sector-specific thought leadership into our UK operations, provide high-end consultancy and advisory services to key clients, so as to identify and formulate key sector challenges and technical solutions to them. In doing so building client and market recognition of our company as a space-focused service provider outside of the core US market. - Work closely with our Space Sales team to identify and supporting the pursuit of space sales opportunities and, more broadly, build a commercially successful business. - Developing key customer, stakeholder, delivery partner, suppliers and academic relationships in the UK Space sector. A key component of the role will be identifying and pursuing key partner/supplier relationships to complement and enhance internal capabilities - Bridging the gap between developing concept client solutions during opportunity pursuit and mobilising those solutions into operational delivery teams. The role will report into one of the Operations within our Critical Missions Solutions (CMS) business and is based at our Harwell office, a major hub for the UK space sector. However, we do expect the candidate covering the role to regularly attend our Harwell office to integrate their work within relevant locally based teams and to interact with the local business ecosystem - Our prospective clients and delivery teams cover a wide range of markets and UK geographies and therefore some UK and international travel will be necessary Interviews will be held face to face at the Harwell office or via MS Teams.
