This is an exciting leadership role for a dedicated Geography specialist to play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum across Key Stages, fostering a love of the subject and nurturing a deep understanding of geographical concepts in students of all abilities. About the Role: Lead and manage the Geography department across Key Stages (potentially Key Stages 3 & 4), ensuring effective curriculum planning, delivery, and assessment that aligns with the school's vision, national curriculum guidelines, and the latest advancements in geographical education. Develop and implement a stimulating and engaging Geography curriculum that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, cultural awareness, and a passion for exploration in students. Oversee the work of Geography teachers within the department, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure high-quality teaching and learning. Monitor student progress, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement within the Geography curriculum. Play a key role in the recruitment and selection of new Geography teachers. Contribute to the wider school community by participating in departmental and whole-school initiatives. The Ideal Candidate: A qualified Geography teacher with a proven track record of success in leading and managing a department within a secondary school setting. Extensive experience in teaching Geography across Key Stages, with a strong focus on examination preparation (e.g., GCSE and A-Level). Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for demystifying geographical concepts and fostering a critical understanding of the world. Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and effectively delegate tasks within the department. Outstanding pedagogical skills and the ability to develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
