Job Description
Venture-backed quantum hardware start-up.
Work closely with some of the brightest minds in quantum engineering.
Potential shares in a small team with fantastic career growth potential.
We’ve teamed up with an award-winning quantum hardware start-up, who enable secure encryption through harnessing the power of photonics and quantum mechanics. As one of the UK’s many university spinout success stories, they’re currently a team of 25, made up of specialists in quantum physics, firmware, hardware and software. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to hire an FPGA Engineer to bolster their product engineering capability.
Please note that they are based in Oxford, with a hybrid working policy. You should expect to be in the office 2-3 days a week, though there is flexibility where necessary.
What experience will I need?
* A degree or relevant education in Electronics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
* Proven FPGA expertise, as well as SoC architecture.
* Extensive experience in the design & debugging of digital/analog hardware interfaces.
* Understanding of signal processing, plus algorithm design & optimisation.
* Skilled in VHDL, Verilog or a similar hardware description language.
* Expert in design & verification, using tools like Xilinx, System Verilog and UVM.
* Familiarity with embedded software development, using C/C++.
* Proficiency in simulation tooling, using things like ModelSim or QuestaSim.
* Any awareness of quantum computing, photonics or cryptography would be useful.
What will my day-to-day look like?
This position is involved from PoC design to production. You’ll design & implement FPGA systems for several applications related to cyber security & computing, with targeted fields including communication, HPC, simulations and automotive systems. Internal stakeholder engagement is paramount as you’ll engage with the software & hardware teams to ensure high-level FPGA architecture. You’ll be test-driven, often building simulations to ensure functional compliance, as well as preparing meaningful documentation to provide scalability as the team continues to grow. Lots of variety in a start-up environment, with fantastic scope for internal progression depending on your ambitions!
What do I get in return?
As well as a competitive salary in line with your experience, the team are advocates for flexible working and try to accommodate all personal circumstances where they can.
