This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the Patient Estates/Financial Accounting Team at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking to recruit a motivated individual with excellent communication skills, is compassionate and has the ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own with good numerical /analytical skills. You should have a positive and flexible approach to your work and able to adapt to changing/challenging situations.
You will be liaising with Patients/Service Users within the Trust and dealing with all aspects of their financial concerns, being able to deal with difficult situations effectively and efficiently.
In this role you will provide a confidential, efficient and courteous service for Staff, Service Users & Relatives, Suppliers & Customers.
Salary is B4 (£25,147 - £27,596) per annum (pro-rata).
Main duties of the job
1. Contact with patients is incidental.
2. Assist patients/clients during incidental contacts, provide non-clinical advice/information to patients/clients/relatives
3. Responsible for dealing with all aspects of financial concerns relating to all patients within the Trust. Being able to deal with difficult situations effectively and efficiently.
4. Responsible for the effective operation of financial systems relating to patients monies and cashiering duties. Including monthly reconciliations, Losses and Compensations, Charitable Funds and Petty Cash processes etc, transfer of resources as appropriate.
5. Implements policies and propose changes to working practices and procedures ( when planning for the impact of new legislation) and implements procedures set by others
6. Demonstrates activities, work routines to others in own work area/allocates work to more junior staff in the section; provide induction training for trainees, new members of staff.
7. To keep the Assistant Financial Accountant appraised of significant issues relevant to the post.
8. To provide an excellent service to all relevant users and to undertake all associated duties in line with expected professional standards.
9. Responsible for other duties commensurate with salary and band. The post holder will be jointly responsible with the Trust for developing the contents of this job to meet the perceived needs of the organisation.

29. Demonstrate own activities to new or less experienced employees / day to day co-ordination of staff; provide practical training.

31. Undertakes surveys or audits as necessary to own work/Regularly undertakes R&D activity
32. Completes staff surveys /designs and conducts complex audits to improve financial & accounting services
33. Understanding of accounting procedures (reconciliation and balances, VAT payments and deductions, finance computer systems and ledgers, coding structures, payroll agreements & procedures).
34. To keep the Assistant Financial Accountant appraised of significant issues relevant to the post.
35. To provide an excellent service to all relevant users and to undertake all associated duties in line with expected professional standards.
36. Responsible for ensuring all policies and procedures are up to date and are fully documented for Audit requirements.
37. Co-ordinate with other sections within the finance function and externally to ensure continuity of services and on-going improvements in delivery of service commensurate with salary.
38. Responsible for other duties commensurate with salary and band. The post holder will be jointly responsible with the Trust for developing the contents of this job to meet the perceived needs of the organisation.

Qualifications
Essential
39. Good standard of education having obtained at least 5 O levels or equivalent or GCSEs including grade C minimum, incl. Maths & English.
Desirable
40. 2 A levels or equivalent Further level of education.
Experience
Essential
41. Some experience of working directly with Patients/Service Users
Desirable
42. NHS / Public sector experience.
43. Experience and expertise in finance computer systems and ledgers
44. Ideally 2 years experience of working in a finance environment
45. Experience of cash handling and/or Petty Cash processes
