Job Summary
To effectively deliver the main responsibilities within the Senior RSW role, ensuring effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of the children/young people, staff, service, and company.
To be part of a team offering a comprehensive, high-quality residential service to children and young people. The aim being to ensure the physical, social, and emotional well-being of the children/young people are met and to assist in their positive holistic development and resilience.
Responsibilities
1. To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people.
2. To report immediately any unsafe practices and conditions.
3. Effective personal practice and effective management of a team.
4. Unconditionally support the positive holistic development of the children/young people within the home.
5. To ensure the ongoing assessment of children and young people's needs in day-to-day practice.
6. Ensure all staff practice is in line with best practice and the children and young people's Care and Placement Plans.
7. Continuously and unconditionally promote the structure, boundaries, and routines within a safe and nurturing environment.
8. Be responsible for the effective and efficient running of shifts including the planning and appropriate activities.
9. Provide a positive role model for the young people, presenting oneself in a highly professional manner at all times.
10. As required, work with young people on intervention strategies to promote pro-social behaviour.
11. Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities including delivery of direct work.
Skills
1. Previous experience in childcare or working with children is highly desirable.
2. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective interaction with children and families.
3. Ability to follow care plans meticulously while adapting to the needs of each child.
4. Empathetic people person who is non-judgemental and calm.
5. Dedicated and committed with a “can-do” attitude.
Qualifications
1. Familiarity with residential care principles is beneficial.
2. Level 3 or 4 in Residential Child Care (Children and Young Peoples Workforce).
3. 12 Months Experience.
4. Ability to work shifts and sleep in the home overnight.
5. Must have valid Right to Work in the UK.
