About the Employer
I am the employer and mother to my son who has been allocated a direct payment to support him on social activities, managing his household and attending appointments. My son resides independently within his own home with the additional support of his father and I however we are seeking a PA to provide companionship, offer support in his day-to-day life, promote and engage him in social and community activities of his choice and assist to appointments when required. My son has a diagnosis of Schizophrenia and bi polar. He is high functioning and highly intelligent so enjoys conversing with others. We are seeking a PA to provide my son friendship and further support him to engage in activities of his choice out in the community, someone to help develop and support his social network engaging him in groups, prompting him to take medication, and to support him to appointments such as dentist, health appointments as and when required. As well as companionship and accessing social activities, The PA would also be required to support my son with meal planning, food preparation and batch cooking, as he does not have a healthy diet, often opting for take outs. The PA may also be involved with prompting and supporting my son to with some domestic tasks within the home if time allows. The PA support will allow his father and I a break from our caring role and will build upon his social support network with someone other than a family member We are seeking someone to assist and support in my son with tasks such as: - • Going to the beach/for walks • Social outings and participating in group events • Promoting peer relationships • Supporting to appointments • Prompting him to take medication • Going shopping/preparing meals • Some domestic duties • Providing companionship and social outings • Supporting and encouraging my son to budget My sons’ needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
• Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
• Support with managing paperwork & correspondence.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
Transport Requirement:
Car driver preferred but not essential.

Hours per week: Some flexibility may be required. The days and times may vary depending on whether a specific activity/appointment is identified or organised. Details will be discussed and agreed in advance between the employee and employer. Preferably 2-3 sessions.
