Registration Officer (Building Control)
Salary and grade: £27,714- £32,367 per year, Grade 3

About the role and what we’re looking for
This role involves undertaking the technical administrative duties for the support of the building control service, ensuring that it is carried out in accordance with current regulations and service standards. The role will include answering the phone, technical checks of plans, booking site inspections and taking payments for a range of applications.
This is a varied role, and the post holder will be organised and efficient with excellent communication skills, an eye for detail, good problem-solving skills, and can prioritise workloads.
A desire for order, along with a drive to exceed performance targets and deliver excellent customer service would be a bonus.

About you
Your essential skills, knowledge and experience
• Good general admin/office experience (at least two years)
• Proficient in use of the Microsoft Office suite
• Experience of working to service standards and targets
• Financial experience of dealing with purchase/sales orders, accounts,
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently, take initiative for implementing improvements and for making decisions
• Strong numeracy skills
• Methodical and flexible approach to work
• Excellent customer service skills
• Effective communicator
• Ability to follow procedure
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong mental agility skills such as fact finding, problem solving, analytical work and using judgment
Your essential qualifications
• GCSEs in English and Maths, or equivalent level of qualification or experience
If you have the following experience or qualifications – it’s a bonus
• experience of working with specialist computer systems such as Ocella or DEF Mastergov
• experience of working in Local Authority Building Control
• the ability to read and interpret plans/drawings
• knowledge of building industry terminology
• experience in working with electronic measuring of scaled technical drawings
• knowledge or interest in development of building control service as a business and knowledge of building terminology
