Principal Systems Safety Engineer
Location: Newcastle OR Edinburgh
Pay: Up to £70p/h (DOE)
ARM has partnered with a large defence client who is looking for an experienced Systems Safety Engineer to assist with conducting safety assessments and supporting projects on all safety issues.
Responsibilities:
1. Use safety analysis skills across the full system lifecycle: from requirements analysis (including bids and contracting); through design, development; to system integration, acceptance testing, delivery and in-service support.
2. Identify hazards and investigate these using functional failure analyses and other techniques, identifying the necessary mitigations to reduce safety risks, and taking part in design trade-offs to implement them.
3. Evidence your decisions using the data available to you, through fault tree analysis, scenario analysis, and various other techniques.
4. Document and present the outcomes of safety analysis to stakeholders.
5. Generate safety requirements to meet customer and/or regulatory safety target requirements.
6. Work closely with many different engineering disciplines, customers, partners and suppliers to help solve complex problems.
7. Support audits as required.
Experience Required:
1. Experience of safety analysis in a safety-critical industry on complex systems.
2. Experience across a number of engineering lifecycle phases.
3. Experience with at least one of: ARP4754A, ARP4761, RTCA DO-254, or DO178C.
4. Knowledge of lasers, radar systems, and/or sensors and defensive aids systems.
5. Experience with any of the following tools: Cameo Systems Modeler, Azure, DOORS, Adelard ASCE or Isograph Reliability Work Bench.
