Job Description:
Responsible for supporting the delivery of design, procurement and construction of Wendy’s Restaurants in the UK and Europe. Currently this is around 30+ Franchisee and 4 Company restaurants per year. This requires regular engagement with our Franchisees, offering construction support, guidance and coaching, whilst providing direct management of the Company Restaurants. This position reports to and supports the UK Manager (Head of Construction).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Schedule management – Ensures projects are accurately forecast and delivered to programme.
2. Value creation and Cost – Tracks and reports project capital costs, working on VE initiatives delivering construction cost improvement.
3. Standards – Ensures that the build quality of all our restaurants is to the brand standards.
4. Systems and process – Management of project tracking software and project cost databases. Support with the administration of company initiatives, coach and supports FZ following Wendy’s processes.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Schedule management and reporting – Own the project timelines and keep the internal system up to date. This includes Franchisee and company projects and covers the full life cycle from design kick off through to project close out and restaurant opening.
2. QA/QC – Performs regular on-site reviews; monitors the quality of work; identifies and communicates substandard workmanship and/or items on non-compliance. Follows up until all items are rectified.
3. Cost control and reporting – Manages the project budget for Company restaurants and reviews that of the Franchisee’s. Can review and approve progress on site vs a payment application. Supports with V.E initiatives.
4. Franchisee support – Work with the franchisee’s construction, design and operations teams during the design, construction and post construction phases, scheduling and facilitating the necessary coordination meetings and tracking key projects milestones. Coaches franchisees through the execution of their development projects. This will involve conveying knowledge of Wendy's design requirements, providing lists of approved resources, and lending expertise to any part of the development process that the franchisee doesn't understand. It requires strong customer service skills as well as time management expertise.
5. Support with new markets – Ensuring all information is accurate as new franchisees are onboarded into Wendy’s construction processes & systems.
6. Systems and Processes – Responsible for the accuracy of information held in company databases. Support with CAPCOM approvals, planning and pre-construction work on Company restaurants and Construction supply chain, as examples. Play an active role in developing processes, best practices and project management manuals, reporting tools, equipment guides and others.
7. Source and hire local consultants, suppliers and contractors.
8. Works with local cities and municipalities to secure permits and variances.
9. Award contractors, review pay application and release payments.
10. Review company’s restaurants and franchisees projects’ schedule.
11. Review franchisees construction budgets.
12. Approve construction quality and FOH & BOH design/brand compliance.
13. Recommend alternate/innovative suppliers for materials, furniture and equipment.
Position Requirements:
1. Education: Bachelors Degree Construction management, Architecture or Engineering preferred.
2. Minimum 3 years of experience on F&B construction management rollout programs.
3. Knowledge of construction processes and techniques, project planning and budgeting, construction materials/specifications, building codes, zoning laws, and contracts preferred.
4. Strong negotiation, communication and management skills.
5. International business experience preferred.
