Position: Yard Team Leader
Location: Barnsley (Baugh green area)
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum plus Production Bonus
Working Pattern: Full Time
Hours: Working Hours: 8.00am to 4.00pm Mon-Thurs, 8.00am to 3.00pm Fri - 39 hours per week with a daily paid break of 30 minutes

As the Yard Team Leader, you will coordinate the daily activities of a team of Yard Operatives, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. Your responsibilities will include:
Lead, direct, evaluate and develop a team of Yard Operatives to ensure the facilitation of goods movement within the yard
Direct the activities of a team of Yard Operatives to ensure that goods are moved, handled and stored safely, correctly and in accordance with established schedules and inventory lists
Follow established procedures and guidelines to handle, store, record and dispatch goods
Load and unload vehicles within the yard, either manually or with the help of FLT or Crane operators, in line with schedules and delivery notes provided within the specified deadlines
Tying up and general movement of stock as required
Check for damage and for discrepancies between goods and orders
Assist in maximising load efficiency
Day-to-day liaising with other departments in the business to facilitate business operation
Ensure compliance with EHS and company proceduresCoach and mentor workers to help them use production equipment or resolve problems
Communicate daily tasks and expectations for Safety, Production, Quality and TQM
Demonstrate the operation of machinery / equipment
Liaise with the appropriate individuals regarding the individuals development to arrange suitable training and learning activities
Observe the individual in completing the task, identify areas of deviation and advise corrective action in line with standard operating procedures
Advise operators in general queries regarding the operation of the process
Review skills matrix and inform Production Management of changes requiredSupport the Production Management Team in developing a team of functional professionals or other professionals to ensure that the plant meets its established targets and standards
Support the induction of new members of the team, on boarding and skills assessment
Feedback on performance to the Production Supervisor and support further development plans
Conduct specific skills training as required
Conduct team briefings and support meetings as required Operate all relevant machinery, tools, and equipment and undertake tasks safely and in

Complete pre start checks
Maintain and follow up to date standard operating procedures
Complete loading activities in order of priority
Monitor level of activity to ensure production targets are met What We're Looking For:
Essential: Counterbalance FLT licence and prior experience leading a team.
Desirable: Experience in a company supplying to the construction industry. Your Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Strong leadership and communication abilities.
A proactive approach to problem-solving.
