Our client is a successful and well-known company within the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. They are looking for a Process & Project Engineer to join their team.
Reporting to the Project & Process Lead, you will focus on implementing 'in-flight' projects and providing technical expertise in the troubleshooting and optimisation of multiple process unit operations. There is also an opportunity to be involved in concept through detailed design of engineering and process improvement projects.
On a daily basis, you will collaborate closely with colleagues from Engineering, Production, Quality, and HSE teams. There will also be direct interaction with suppliers and central functions in the group to ensure that the projects are delivered in accordance with the agreed specifications, on time, within budget, and with safety built in as standard.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for Process Optimisation (OEE Improvement, Yield Improvement, NPI) of key site unit operations: solid-Liq Extraction; Evaporation; Centrifuge Separation; Reaction; Spray Drying, CIP etc.
2. Support Operator capability building through process cross-functional SOP creation, training, and knowledge sharing.
3. Utilise process SME knowledge to own and support troubleshooting of critical site concerns.
4. Support process & project lead with special tasks and actions.
5. Create investment proposals, including detailed descriptions, cost estimates, savings, and timetables.
6. Develop and deliver multiple capital projects simultaneously.
7. Create Project Plans and harness resources to ensure project milestones are met within expectations of timeline, quality, and budget.
8. Manage contractors and support safe systems of work (PTW, Confined Spaces, Working at Height etc).
9. Improve and develop project engineering procedures.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
1. Degree in Engineering (Chemical and Process).
2. Several years of progressive experience working in plant maintenance, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering in food manufacturing or alternative heavily regulated environments (e.g., Pharma manufacturing).
3. Experience in managing and executing capital projects £50k - £500k from design through to commissioning.
4. Knowledge of HACCP and hygienic engineering (EHEDG or 3A).
5. Experience with Food manufacturing unit operations: Solid-Liquid Extraction, Evaporation, Centrifuge Separation, Reaction, Spray Drying, CIP etc.
6. Able to manage multiple priorities and achieve results under pressure.
7. Comfortable communicating at all levels of the business.
Salary and Benefits:
1. Up to £44,000 depending on experience.
2. Working hours: 9am - 5pm, with 30min lunch.
