iO Associates are excited to be working with a leading engineering firm to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in mechanical fitting and assembly, looking to further their career with a dynamic and innovative company.
About the Role:
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in the assembly of mechanical products, ensuring that they are built to the highest standards in line with specifications and drawings. This position involves working on bespoke projects with a focus on quality, precision, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical Assembly: Assemble products following detailed general arrangement drawings and specifications, ensuring all parts are fitted accurately and to the highest standard.
2. Quality Control: Conduct thorough checks on parts and products, raising any issues with incorrect parts or assembly concerns, and generating Engineering Change Reports (ECRs) as needed.
3. Collaboration: Work closely with the design team to make modifications that meet customer requirements and improve machine performance.
4. Bespoke Fabrication: Manufacture custom parts using machine shop tools, ensuring safety and quality are maintained.
5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed, noting time taken, challenges faced, and any important observations for future builds.
6. Health & Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring the safe use of machinery and equipment, while wearing the correct PPE at all times.
What We're Looking For:
1. Proven Experience: A solid track record in mechanical fitting and assembly, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment. Candidate must be able to read and interpret General arrangement drawings.
2. Problem Solver: A creative and innovative thinker who can resolve issues quickly and effectively.
3. Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
4. Team Player: Someone who can collaborate effectively with different departments, including design and production teams.
5. Health & Safety Conscious: A thorough understanding of workplace safety standards, with experience working in compliance with ISO standards.
Skills & Qualifications:
1. A broad engineering background in fitting and assembly.
2. Familiarity with quality control processes, ideally with exposure to ISO standards.
3. Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
4. Knowledge of machine tools and hand tools, with appropriate certifications and licenses for equipment usage.

Salary: £35-£38K DOE.
It is a 37.5 hour working week. The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm with 30 mins lunch break and Friday 8.00am to 1.30pm with no lunch.
Agreed overtime is paid at 1 ¼ x standard hourly rate Monday to Friday inclusive, and 1 ½ x standard hourly rate for Saturday & x2 for Sunday.
Overtime is not guaranteed though it may be required at fairly short notice to meet production demands and occasionally working Saturday's (mostly mornings), rarely working Sunday.
