A fantastic opportunity to join the WRU Group Legal Team for a fixed term, to provide legal advice and associated support in connection with the WRU Group business.
Role will include negotiating and drafting various agreements and legal documentation across a broad range of subjects; working closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide timely legal advice to a high standard.
Solicitor qualified in England and Wales with around 4 years’ post-qualification experience is required with demonstrable experience in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts with sound commercial awareness. Previous experience working in an in-house legal role and/or in sport (with data protection and IP experience) is desirable.

The Person
* Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with post qualification experience of around 4 years.
* Experience of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and other legally-binding documentation.
* Knowledge of current data protection legislation and experience of advising the same. Ability to provide legal advice and deliver legal agreements to a high standard and in a timely fashion.
* Ability to prioritise competing demands with excellent attention to detail. Self-motivated and pro-active.
* Demonstrable experience of providing succinct advice to persons with differing levels of seniority.
* Previous experience working in an in-house legal role and/or in sport (with data protection and IP experience).
The Role
Support the Head of Legal, to include the negotiation and drafting of various legal documentation and provide comprehensive advice to the WRU Group on a range of contractual and commercial matters (including sponsorship agreements, rugby competition and regulatory matters, property matters, venue hire and event hosting agreements and matters, licensing agreements, hospitality and ticketing agreements, hospitality box licences, supply and service agreements, ticket terms and conditions, employment and consultancy matters, data protection and intellectual property).
Assist with compliance in relation to data protection. Review and update relevant policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and business needs. Review and update precedent documentation. Contribute to the building of the WRU Group precedent and know-how bank. Assist in the development and delivery of internal training across the business.
As required, work on other matters in line with the ‘One Wales’ strategy and assist with other relevant projects.

WRU Requirements
The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
