The Role
We are looking for someone who is passionate about fitness and helping people to achieve their goals, brings good energy, has a proactive and positive attitude and cares for our customers. You will be passionate about leisure and encourage healthy activity and help reduce health inequalities in the borough.
Reporting to the Centre Fitness Manager, the successful candidate will have a passion for delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will:
1. Ensure the smooth day-to-day operations within the gym.
2. Maintain vigilant supervision of the gym users ensuring their safety at all times.
3. Complete all cleaning and maintenance schedules, ensuring faults are reported immediately.
4. Conduct 1-2-1 Gym Appointments.
5. Offer training plans to include screening of customers, fitness assessments and prescribing lifestyle changes, dietary considerations and health and fitness development plans.
6. Deliver consistent excellent customer service and provide a professional, efficient and cheerful presence at all times.
The role will sit in the Environment, Sustainability & Leisure, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of parks and open spaces, trees, sports and leisure, cemeteries, youth and play, highways, roads, parking, refuse collection, street cleansing, culture and libraries.

In June 2023, Leisure Services transferred to full council management. This is a unique opportunity to be part of building a new future for leisure services in Southwark. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Fitness Professional who will help us to deliver our fitness product to our residents, members and visitors at the centres.
About You
* Minimum level 2 Fitness Qualification. Hold a CIMSPA or REPs accredited Level 3 qualification.
* Experience working in a customer-facing environment, providing the highest levels of customer care.
* Experience creating a programme for clients/members.
Additional Information:
- Job type – Permanent (Full Time/Part time available) working across various centres.
- Will be required to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet the needs of the service.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
