Are you a proven Process Engineer, with a chemical engineering background? Do you want to be part of a team committed to continuous improvement and health and safety? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you in our Operations team as a Process Engineer, playing an integral part in our plans to expand our water recycling centre in Avonmouth, Bristol.
What you'll do
Based on-site, you will primarily be responsible for supporting our operations by troubleshooting site processes and providing technical support for operational staff activities. You will also provide support to operational site management, as well as project implementation and development through process related understanding of existing plants and the associated impact of change.
The management of process data and the understanding of key process engineering deliverables are essential to this role.
You will be required to create, update, review, and check the following:
* heat and material balances
* process drawings (PFDs, P&IDs)
* hydraulic calculations
* overpressure protection reviews and relief sizing
* preliminary equipment process design and specification (tanks/pumps/compressors/heat exchangers/control valves/relief valves)
* preliminary control philosophy, such as initial set point definition
* SoL review, definition, and update
* hazardous area classification.
You will manage DSEAR safety rules for chemical process engineering at bioresource sites and provide oversight of improvement actions raised within plan engineering studies and audits.
Attendance and providing your technical advice at safety and design reviews will also be a key responsibility.
What you'll need
You will have worked as a Process Engineer on major plants, either within the water sector or alternative process-related industry sectors. You will be degree-qualified in chemical engineering or have an equivalent engineering skillset as well as working experience operating in a high-hazard environment such as COMAH affiliated sites.
Ideally, you will be chartered of a relevant industry body, such as the IChemE however, this is not essential if you have the relevant experience for this role.
In addition, you will have undertaken the following in your current or previous positions:
* management of DSEAR safety rules for chemical / process engineering
* management of process-related data, creating, updating, reviewing, and checking process engineering deliverables
* heat and materials balances.
* Process engineering drawings such as PFDs and P&IDs
* hydraulic calculations
* driving site improvements through the optimisation of existing equipment or upgrades to support continuous improvement on site, in particular safety, environmental impact, reliability, and profitability.
