Our client is a leading civil engineering company with their head office in Inverness. Currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their well established commercial team.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial management and contractual control of civil engineering projects, from initial estimates and cost planning through to final accounts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quantity surveying within the civil engineering sector and be well-versed in managing the commercial aspects of medium to large scale infrastructure projects
Key Responsibilities:
* Cost Management: Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, ensuring effective cost control throughout the lifecycle of the project.
* Tender Preparation: Assist in preparing tenders, pricing works, and reviewing contract documents for prospective projects.
* Valuations & Payments: Prepare interim valuations, measure works and agree on payments with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Contractual Management: Administer contracts in line with NEC3/4, JCT, or other relevant contract forms, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.
* Risk Management: Identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring potential issues are addressed proactively.
* Variation Control: Manage variations and claims in a timely manner, negotiating fair settlements to ensure profitability is maintained.
* Financial Reporting: Provide regular cost reports and financial forecasts to senior management and clients, advising on any commercial risks or opportunities.
* Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure smooth communication and project delivery.
* Final Accounts: Prepare and agree on final accounts, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
* 3 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the civil engineering or infrastructure sectors is desirable.
* Strong knowledge of NEC3/4, SBCC, and FIDIC contract forms.
* Proven experience in managing the commercial aspects of medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in using relevant software (e.g., CostX, CATO, Microsoft Office).
* RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or ICES (Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors) accreditation is highly desirable.
