The Crisis Service and Diagnostic Center is a program designed to offer individual tailored assistance and brief (up to 90-day) stabilization for a maximum of sixteen (16) adults aged 18 and above, who have intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or concurrent IDD/BH diagnoses. These individuals are facing psychiatric challenges and/or significant emotional/behavioral changes that are impacting their essential functions, potentially jeopardizing their ability to stay in their usual home environment.
Location/Schedule: 750 Hazel Street, Macon Georgia Rotating shifts Sun-Sat 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am
Responsibilities:
* Administering medications as prescribed by healthcare providers to patients in the crisis facility.
* Conducting initial patient assessments to determine the nature and urgency of their needs during a crisis situation.
* Regularly assessing and recording patients' vital signs to ensure their stability and detect any changes that may indicate a worsening condition.
* Treating and dressing wounds, injuries, or other physical health issues that patients may have during a crisis.
* Assisting in managing and de-escalating crises, utilizing your medical knowledge and training to support patients in distress.
* Working closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other nurses, to provide comprehensive care to patients in crisis.
* Providing patients and their families with information and education about their conditions, treatments, and coping strategies during and after a crisis.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, interventions, treatments, and outcomes, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
* Following safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff in the crisis facility.
* Address any personnel issues to promote a productive and supportive work environment.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies relevant to crisis services.
* Participating in ongoing training and educational opportunities to stay current on best practices and advancements in crisis care and nursing.
Qualifications Needed (education and/or experience):
* Current Georgia license to practice as a licensed practical nurse.
* At least 2 years working on a behavioral health/ intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) or related field.
* Must have good computer skills.
* Communications skills and the ability to foster good relationships among others is a plus.
* Preferred IDD experience.
