Job Summary:
The Network Support Engineer responsibilities include installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools. Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability is paramount. The Network Support Engineer will also maintain essential IT infrastructure, including Cisco routers and switches, firewalls, data center servers, and email systems. This role involves implementing and maintaining strategies for backup, security, and redundancy while proactively identifying potential issues and implementing solutions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Complete work requests as directed by IT Management regarding installation of systems, voice/data network connections, and coordinating work with users.
* Receive and respond to incoming calls and/or requests regarding problems with systems and voice/data network connections.
* Create and update all documentation relating to systems, network equipment, and user locations.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance for all hardware and software.
* Work closely with the specialist II and Technician Supervisor to resolve issues.
* Maintain a current understanding of all IT policies and guidelines regarding information security, including the Rivers Casino IT Acceptable Use Policy.
* Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems. Knowledge of backup/storage technologies and disaster recovery is essential.
* Configuration and continuous administration of server and network equipment, including hardware and related software and servers.
* Provide support for servers, network, and the data center.
* Provide support for all user-facing systems including software and hardware for all platforms, problem determination/isolation, analyzing problem data, performing data analysis, documenting findings, escalating complex problems to the appropriate IT staff or service vendors, and communicating final resolution to clients and users.
* Analyze performance bottlenecks on network, systems, and the overall IT infrastructure. Make recommendations and implement approved recommendations.
* Identify trends in incidents and assist supervisors in root cause analysis and development of resolution or work temp fixes.
* Perform all duties in a manner that ensures the IT department will meet or exceed the measurable objectives for service level to clients/users and system availability.
* Attend all necessary meetings.
* Train/mentor IT Specialist I and II.
* Take lead on projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
* Associate in applied science network management (Preferred)
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
Ability to obtain and maintain Gaming license as required by Virginia Lottery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Network Support Experience
* Detail Oriented
* Good interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements:
* List the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting, and driving.
* Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise, bright lights, smoke, and dust.
* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
* Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
* Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week, including holidays.
