The Role:
The KPMG financial services corporate tax team is a fast growing part of the KPMG tax practice. We are looking for excellent candidates who are seeking a dynamic and challenging working environment within a strong supportive leadership team.
The role is in our Core Asset Management tax team, with a particular focus on our Real Estate client base.
Our team has a diverse client and target base spanning the Financial Services sector - providing services to traditional asset managers and financial services institutions, private equity funds, alternative investors, the real estate sector, wealth and hedge asset managers, UK pension funds and global institutional investors.
We are looking for a candidate with a particular interest in providing clients with corporate and income tax advisory and compliance services, ideally with experience in the real estate market sector. The set-up of the team is such that there will also be opportunities to work across all aspects of asset management tax, including Private Equity Funds Tax, Operational taxes and EU Funds.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a good level of core corporate tax technical or income tax knowledge and a confident outward facing skillset willing to invest time and effort in the marketplace.
The Responsibilities
The role involves a mix of tax advisory services and compliance management. This will include:
1. Developing and leading client relationships and the KPMG team (including where relevant the wider client service team);
2. Understanding the client's business and working with the team to identify areas for the provision of tax and other services;
3. Ownership of the provision of tax advice on a wide range of projects, undertaking detailed technical research;
4. Where relevant, taking responsibility for the finalised deliverables in the tax compliance process (partnership tax returns, corporation tax returns and investor reports) and undertaking tax accounting work to assist clients with their statutory reporting process;
5. Involvement in business development activity, including developing and advising on cutting edge client propositions;
6. Ensuring all risk procedures are adhered to.
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
• Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax or income tax and an awareness of other tax and accounting areas. Previous experience within the financial services sector would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
• Strong interpersonal skills in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.
• High level analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice.
• Ability to work as part of a multifunctional team.
