As an ECO Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring that designs comply with environmental directives and regulations. You will be responsible for reviewing product designs for compliance, maintaining technical files, and managing the relevant databases to demonstrate compliance. Additionally, you will track industry trends and collaborate with teams to help create an effective ECO roadmap. Job Description Responsibilities: - Analyze designs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including RoHS and REACH directives. - Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure ECO regulatory compliance aligns with project requirements and timelines. - Conduct life cycle analyses on selected products to create Product Environmental Profiles and support sustainability metrics tracking. - Review existing product implementations and identify design improvements to enhance sustainability. - Maintain and update GE's regulatory compliance tools, ensuring they align with current industry standards. - Monitor and track changes and trends in environmental legislation. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ECO compliance into the product development process. - Evaluate and mitigate risks related to environmental impact and compliance violations. - Manage supplier/vendor relationships through the global supply chain to ensure adherence to environmental standards. - Provide training and raise awareness within the organization about sustainability and ECO compliance. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Advanced understanding of the RoHS2 Directive 2011/65/EC and REACH regulations. - Solid background in life cycle assessment methodology (ISO 14040) and the ability to evaluate and report LCA results accurately. - Familiarity with Product Environmental Profiles (ISO 14025) and environmental labels/declarations. - Understanding of the WEEE Directive 2011/65/EU and regulations regarding conflict minerals and Dodd-Frank. - Problem-solving ability with minimal supervision, demonstrating innovation and process enhancement. - Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to multitask effectively. Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of protection products and their application in power systems. - Experience with SCARAB software for environmental and compliance analysis. - Familiarity with SimaPro, EcoInvent, Windchill, SUMA, and WPA software tools.
