The Industrial Leader role is required to support all programs, SA A320 family, LR, A350, A400M and A220 with particular focus on assessing machining details and assembly drawings for manufacturability. Work with suppliers in the UK, Europe and Internationally. The individual will be part of a team who support the introduction of Major mods and New Product introduction for key projects over multiple variants of aircraft.
The individual will support the Extended Enterprise activities to include tooling reports, condition of supply, Manufacturing Specifications assessments, BoM comparisons and general ME queries, as part of the Industrialisation activities.
The role holder will work with suppliers around the world and be a key interface with the UK design engineering team on product change activities. This role will be based in Filton but may require travel to other Airbus site and supplier facilities.
Accountabilities
1. The jobholder is a member of the ME OMSWOD team, with responsibility to provide manufacturing expertise to support Airbus plants and suppliers in the context of ME Industrial Capabilities (Manufacturability), particularly focusing on machine details, subassemblies, and major components.
2. The jobholder is the main interface for ME industrial activities between Airbus Engineering (Design office), Plant, and the Suppliers regarding OMSWOD activities on Development Activities associated with design to cost & weight saving activities.
3. The job holder is responsible for ensuring robust communication to and from the supplier, in person or via the ME MFT representative and all other customers/stakeholders.
Main activities
1. Design/Manufacturing changes - proactive engagement in the Continuous Product Development processes, applying ME expertise in concurrent engineering and industrialization aspects.
2. Cost Down - Individually or as part of an MFT, proactively understand and influence cost drivers of a particular product or work package, qualifying and quantifying opportunities for cost down.
3. Engage with ME MFT representative and others, ensuring all commercial and contractual implications are properly considered within the Procurement and Engineering environment for any proposed change.
4. Ensure integration, architecture, and engagement of the wider business network within OMSWOD or other areas to proactively manage risks and opportunities efficiently and effectively.
5. Continuous Support - Provide continuous support to the supplier, proactively managing all issues within the scope of OMSWOD and associated missions, including Drawing Sign Off, Query Note validation, Tooling Asset Management, etc.
6. Seek continuous improvement to suppliers' ME capability, whether that be product or process, standardizing and harmonizing across the business while clearly demonstrating bottom line/value-adding orientation.
7. Maintain associated technical documentation and seek to assure supplier compliance to Airbus requirements, e.g., technical requirements & Standards including the application of specifications on the suppliers' product.
