Electrical Engineer
Overview
A leading manufacturer based in Port Talbot is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join its maintenance team. Operating from a state-of-the-art facility, the company has experienced consistent growth through the delivery of high-quality products for the personal care, healthcare, and pharmaceutical sectors. This role is key to ensuring the ongoing reliability, safety, and efficiency of electrical systems across the site, supporting production and minimising downtime.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and carry out scheduled electrical maintenance and inspections.
2. Respond quickly and effectively to electrical faults and breakdowns.
3. Diagnose and repair faults in control systems, panels, and electrical components.
4. Carry out testing and ensure systems are compliant with electrical safety standards.
5. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and corrective actions.
6. Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and statutory regulations.
Qualifications & Education
Essential:
1. Time-served Electrical Apprenticeship.
2. 5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C, including English, Science, and Mathematics.
3. 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
Desirable:
1. HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
2. Experience with PLC fault finding and basic programming.
3. Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
Skills, Experience & Behaviours
Essential:
1. Experience working in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.
2. Proven ability to respond to and resolve electrical breakdowns in a production setting.
3. Strong knowledge of electrical fault finding, control panels, and motor systems.
4. Excellent attention to detail and safety awareness.
5. Strong communication skills across multiple levels of the business.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
7. Organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
8. Comfortable using maintenance management and IT systems.
Desirable:
1. Experience working in a BRC-certified manufacturing environment.
2. Exposure to automation or instrumentation systems.
