About the role: The Programme Engineering Manager (PEM) is responsible for overseeing and managing an established engineering team consisting of different engineering disciplines aligned for the successful delivery and value recognition of the programme. Responsible to the Senior Programme Engineering Manager, the PEM is required to work closely with the engineering teams to support and lead the delivery of complex devices, consisting of hardware, software and courseware components, interacting with multiple stakeholders from suppliers (who may be within Raytheon UK, or external) to the customer and end-users within UK MOD. This will be achieved through managing and supporting the engineering teams in planning, execution and delivery of tasks, on schedule and to budget. The PEM shall identify risks and opportunities early and work with the wider engineering team to record and manage these for the benefit of Project Delta. Primarily home-based but must be prepared to travel to support internal and customer meetings and duties. Skills and Experience - Experience in technical team leadership - Experience of planning, estimating, and defining engineering tasks - Proven track record of delivering solutions with a customer-first mind set - Established background in engineering technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques - Experience working across all security classifications - Experience with Atlassian suite, working with Jira and Confluence. - Understanding of development lifecycles and the impact these have on requirements management - Configuration management processes and systems - Possess, or be capable of obtaining, Security Clearance. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Desirable - An understanding of the Defence system approach to training (DSAT) and/or the integration of training systems to deliver comprehensive training solutions - Managing projects, tasks and deliverables with protective markings or other special handling restrictions - Experience of systems engineering - Experience with DOORS Requirements Management Tool - Experience of training devices Responsibilities Main duties will include: - Manage and support a multi-disciplined team of technical experts who are responsible for the technical development and delivery of the Training Devices to the customer and end users - Generation, maintenance and review of the engineering development plans and then execution against Raytheon's standards and aligned to the overall Programme's needs - Creation and governance of accurate Basis of Estimates (BOE) for new work alongside the update of BOE's for existing work to support planning and the Raytheon UK Estimate At Complete (EAC) process. - Work package management including planning, tracking and reporting of key performance indicators for the work to be performed, working collaboratively with the Senior Programme Engineering Manager, Training Equipment Manager, Chief Engineer and wider Programme Team - Maintain and promote regular updates across the engineering team for task tracking and reporting using the approved tools - Deliver and maintain effective and informative engineering dashboards, including but not limited to tracking schedule adherence, work done and overall performance - Point of contact and liaison for the engineering team, supporting addressing issues, risk or opportunity identification and reporting of progress against agreed schedules - Management, and tasking for internal projects such as tooling delivery, improvement or migration activities - Form exceptional working relationships with all stakeholders including suppliers, invested Raytheon UK Teams and the UK MOD and its contractors to enable the most efficient possible procurement, integration and delivery of devices. - Work closely with key stakeholders from the Raytheon UK team including, the Training Equipment Manager, Information Assurance Lead, Safety & Environmental Lead to ensure that all external requirements of training device teams, both current and future, are met. - Work closely with the Configuration Management team to ensure that existing Raytheon UK and Project Delta processes are adhered to. - Work closely with the project Security representatives (physical and electronic) to ensure compliance with existing regulations on handling and storage of protected materials. - Support financial forecasting through effective updates and reporting of future labour and Other Direct Costs (ODC) demand - Provide regular reporting against developed metrics to ensure confidence in the Project Delta activities, from inception to successful hand over Benefits and Work Culture Benefits - Competitive salaries. - 25 days holiday statutory public holidays, plus opportunity to buy and sell up to 5 days (37hr) - Contributory Pension Scheme (up to 10.5% company contribution) - Company bonus scheme (discretionary). - 6 times salary 'Life Assurance' with pension. - Flexible Benefits scheme with extensive salary sacrifice schemes, including Health Cashplan, Dental, and Cycle to Work amongst others. - Enhanced sick pay. - Enhanced family friendly policies including enhanced maternity, paternity & shared parental leave. - Car / Car allowance (dependant on grade/ role) - Private Medical Insurance (dependant on grade) Work Culture - 37hr working week, although hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site-specific arrangements. - Early 1.30pm finish Friday, start your weekend early - Remote, hybrid and site based working opportunities, dependant on your needs and the requirements of the role. - A grownup flexible working culture that is output, not time spent at desk, focussed.
