Job summary To work as part of the new Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service who provide clinical expertise which ensures clinical excellence underpinned by evidence-based practice. Treatment will be provided in an outpatient setting or in the patient's own home working alongside our existing community services such as DAART and Virtual Ward. This is to facilitate admission avoidance and early discharge thus reducing the length of stay in hospital for patients receiving IV antimicrobial therapy with the support of microbiology. To provide the treatment for repatriated STW GP based patients that are requiring home IV treatment following appropriate governance processes. To coordinate and support the IV service and Trust in any new developments of service pathways that the OPAT service can provide under the lead of a Consultant. To assist with supervising and assessing student nurses with their learning and experience in OPAT. To maintain effective communication with various disciplines, relatives, patients and outside agencies within the clinical environment.
