Same Day Emergency Care unit is looking for highly motivated, forward thinking and enthusiastic nurse to join us. We need an experienced acute care nurse who is keen to develop skills in leadership in an evolving environment. You need to be passionate about providing high quality, emergency same day care in this fast paced, evolving and exciting are of acute emergency care. You must have excellent communication skills and be excited about being part of an innovative nursing team.
SDEC works as part of the Emergency Floor as an assessment and treatment area. We facilitate admission avoidance for those patient who previously would have been admitted to the hospital. We see patients from the Emergency Department GP's referring into Speciality teams and other clinical areas of the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
This Band 6 role provides a real opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge base in all specialties while being supported by a senior sister and experienced team. Main duties of the job
Key Tasks:
o To assist in leading the nursing team in the provision of high quality, research based, nursing care that is patient and family focussed.o To act as a leader, advisor and role model to less experienced nurses, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated.o To support the senior sister in the management and facilitation of the development of staff creating an effective team.o To take responsibility for identified management/professional/clinical areas and projects under the direction of the senior ward sister.o To foster a multidisciplinary approach to patient care in line with Clinical Governance

Job responsibilities
The post holder will deliver patient care on a daily basis. They should be expert in all areas of nursing care from patients admission to discharge, which facilitates clinical practice development. As nurse in charge they have overall responsibility for day-to-day management of their clinical area and for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures maintaining associated records. They will manage, support and lead a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care, which is of a high standard.
They will assist the senior sister in the management of staff including appraisal, rotas, recruitment and selection and the supervision of learners. They will provide advice and support to patients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources and liaise with the senior sister at all times. They will provide leadership on the Trusts values and behaviours.

* Registered Nurse Part 1 or 12
* Teaching qualification ENB 998 or City & Guilds 730 or equivalent

* Demonstrable post nursing registration experience or equivalent experience in acute setting/Emergency Setting
* Demonstrates professional updating of knowledge in past two years
* Clinical skills of venepuncture, cannulation,, IV drug administration
