Classroom Link are working in partnership with a SEND school based in the WR6 Worcester area who are looking to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant to start ASAP or after easter. The role is a full time and long term position with an opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.
The school is situated in the Worcestershire countryside with outstanding outside facilities and resources providing an education for students with a range of additional needs but mainly autism aged 8 to 19.
The main duties within this role will be:
Working on a 1:1 basis with pupils who have autism diagnoses
Engaging children in activities to help increase academic outcomes
Managing challenging behaviour
Liaising with the class teacher around progress made by pupils
Leading academic interventions with pupils working below age expected levels
Acting as a role model for children across the school
Following the school's behaviour and reward systems to help engage pupils
The school are looking for people who:
Have previously worked in school's or in a childcare setting
Have a good understanding of autism
Have creative and effective behaviour management skills
Can engage pupils within lessons
Are able to build relationships with pupils
Have a good understanding of the primary school curriculum
Possess good communication skills.
