Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Teaching Assistant required for a leading Secondary Academy, backed by a large MAT in Bushey, Hertfordshire - ASAP or September start - £90 - £120 per day - Long term role working with several SEN students
A mainstream secondary Academy located in Bushey is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant / LSA to join their team. This is a full-time role that involves support pupils across Key Stage 3 in different lessons, small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Many of these pupils have specialised Education plans and have mild behaviour or learning requirements. The successful Learning Support Assistant will play a crucial role in helping these students adapt to life in a Secondary school and support them to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
1. Work closely alongside the schools specialist and well trained SEN team - This is a post that can provide a stepping stone into a range of other careers and specialisms.
2. You will be required to assist with student's academic development, monitor progression and foster independence.
3. Pupils could have a variety of mild to moderate needs including ASD, Global delay, Speech, Language or communication difficulties.
4. A positive, caring and upbeat disposition is essential - you will become a positive and consistent role model in the lives of these specific pupils.
Person Specification: We are looking for the below criteria:
5. Previous experience working within youth work, tuition or with pupils / young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Autism and communication difficulties.
6. A good academic record ideally educated to degree standard
7. The ability to understand the challenges faced by students with SEN needs and the ability to adapt your approach accordingly.
8. Patience and empathy with the ability to quickly build and sustain positive relationships all with students, pupil parents, and internal school colleagues.
9. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
10. The ability to work independently as well as within a specialist team.
