In this role, you will engage meaningfully with our local community, listen to their needs, and act as an ambassador, raising awareness about the hospice and the services we offer.

Main duties of the job
To engage with the local community and workclosely with colleagues to provide a key engagement outreach role to raiseawareness about the hospice and its services. The role will focus on buildingstrong community relationships, listening to community members and promotingpositive engagement and hospice visibility within the local area.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. Toidentify and establish relationships with community members, healthcare,statutory and voluntary organisations to introduce people to the hospice andits services.
2. Engagewith community groups to raise awareness of the hospice and better understandthe needs of community members, with a focus on communities who experienceinequity accessing care.
3. Delivercommunity engagement initiatives and projects, aligned with hospice strategicobjectives including working with people with lived experience from minoritisedcommunity groups and to ensure inclusivity.
4. Toact as a hospice ambassador and communicate information about the hospice andits services to local communities and organisations.
5. Scopeopportunities to work in collaboration with external organisations to deliverand collaborate on a range of community engagement events and awarenessprogrammes.
6. Tobe responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of activity and data.
7. Leadon awareness campaigns with the Communications and Marketing Lead.
8. Workalongside hospice colleagues to contribute to, support and disseminateinformation for other events and activities such as Wills Month, No BarriersHere, Grief Awareness Week and hospice fundraising events.
9. Workcollaboratively with all hospice teams to align community engagement effortswith the hospice goals and priorities.
10. Communicatewith internal colleagues about engagement events and activities
11. Activelyengage in internal and external hospice community events, fundraising,awareness raising activities and public speaking opportunities about thehospice.
12. Seekopportunities and training to understand developments in palliative and end oflife care, death, dying and bereavement.
13. RepresentMary Stevens Hospice at external meetings as required.
14. To attendlocal events representing the hospice which take place throughout the BlackCountry open days, engagement stand opportunities, community events.
15. Collectand collate data from events and community engagement initiatives identifyingopportunities for improvement.
16. Preparereports for monitoring processes for the Senior Leadership Team.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
1. Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, in addition to a proactive approach to social media.
2. Experienced public speaker and delivering presentations.
3. A professional, positive and confident manner.
4. Ability to manage various tasks and projects in a timely manner.
5. Excellent MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
6. Ability to develop a range of relationships, including people with lived experience, health and social care workers, voluntary and statutory sector.
7. Proven networking and community engagement skills.
Qualifications
Essential
8. Experience in a community engagement role.
9. Experience of working with community groups.
10. Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
11. Knowledge of local services.
12. Experience of working in a voluntary organisation.
13. Knowledge of the health and social care sector.
14. Knowledge of palliative and end of life care, hospice movement, bereavement, compassionate communities etc.
15. Educated to degree level, or transferable experience.
