We are looking for an experienced HIV nurse to take on the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist and outpatient clinic manager. You'll be managing a team of 3 staff on a daily basis and you'll be undertaking nurse-led clinics for people living with HIV. You will be assessing most of our new clinic patients, as well as recalling those people who test positive from the Emergency Department Blood Borne Virus opt-out project. You'll be supported by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a friendly, experienced medical and nursing team. Expect a warm welcome from our dedicated team of nurses, doctors, psychologist, pharmacists and admin staff. Our service covers the diverse East London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge, and our patient cohort reflects the diversity of our boroughs. We strive to provide the best care management and support that we can. We try hard to re-engage those who miss appointments. We have in-clinic support from Positive East, a great local charity which helps people living with and affected by HIV. We aren't a perfect clinic or a perfect team, however we are trying hard and we are looking for the right person to come and join us in our quest. Interviews will include a scenario-based section (you will be given a scenario before the interview and we will discuss this during the interview) and a presentation, the topic of which will be shared when you're invited for interview.
Main duties of the job
The HIV service has a cohort of around 1,300 patients. We provide holistic HIV care and support to patients and their families, carers and significant others. We work closely with other HIV services within the North East London Network.
The Post holder will have a pivotal role within the HIV clinic. They will have a clinical and managerial role. On a day to day basis they will manage and ensure the smooth running of the HIV clinic, include line managing some members of the nursing team. They will also have allocated clinical sessions where they will undertake patient consultations, supervised and supported by the HIV Lead Nurse. They will work closely with colleagues to ensure high standards of clinical care are maintained.
