Section Engineer
Murphy are recruiting a Section Engineer to join us in delivering clean and wastewater projects on the Thames Water Framework. You will be adept at managing and mentoring junior engineers and able to assists Construction / Site Manager in all aspects of construction.

What you will be doing
1. Reporting to Senior / Project Engineers
2. Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
3. Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with Company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
4. Liaise with senior engineers and designer to ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works and have no impact to the programme, raising RFIs and TQs.
5. Maintain good working relations with client, designer, team and supply chain
6. Supervise assistant and site engineers
7. Support with temporary works (TW) design schemes, acting as TW Supervisor or Coordinator
8. Take a personal interest in identifying, coaching and developing key staff.
9. Advise and train other engineers on setting out methods and techniques
10. Support with the selection of materials and plant for the use in the construction processes.
11. Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
12. Prepare Inspection and Test Plans for their implementation, ensuring all relevant records are kept
13. Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractor’s attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / project team.
Who we’re looking for
14. Engineering qualification from a reputable institution
15. Previous experience in clean water or wastewater civil engineering projects is desirable
16. Highly competent in surveying and setting out techniques and able to teach others.
17. Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers
18. Quality-oriented, with experience developing and implementing Quality Systems (i.e. ITPs, NCRs)
About the Project
19. Thames Water AMP7 is a 4-year long framework plus 5 year extension into AMP8.
20. Murphy is a Primary Contractor in Lot 5 North London Infrastructure, value £200m (Inside the M25 – North of the River Thames)
21. The framework will consist of the delivery of ECI, detailed design, build, commissioning and handover of water and wastewater infrastructure schemes
22. Include individual projects up to £30m with a focus on works working within the public domain and on road carriageways.
23. Design Partner in place
24. Featuring repairs and build of new assets with a bias towards Clean Water networks with a few waste projects also on the books.
25. Sizable Temporary works and working closely with Stake holders are part of day to day activites
