Axcis Education is seeking an experienced Learning Care Assistant to support young people aged 16+ with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) in a specialist school in Stockport. This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential for a permanent contract following a successful trial and interview.
This role involves providing high-quality care and support to students with complex physical, medical, and sensory needs. Many students require assistance with mobility, feeding, personal care, and communication, and some use specialist equipment such as hoists and alternative communication devices.
As a Care Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure students feel safe, comfortable, and engaged in their daily activities. You will play a key role in enhancing their quality of life, encouraging independence where possible, and promoting their emotional and physical well-being. While this role can be challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding. You will develop meaningful relationships with the students, seeing first-hand the difference your care and support make in their lives.
To be considered, you must have:
1. At least two years of experience working in care or with individuals with SEN (experience in schools, residential care, personal care, or youth work will be considered).
2. UK-based experience with checkable references.
3. A child and adult DBS registered on the update service.
4. Confidence and experience with personal care tasks.
5. Strong verbal communication skills in English.
Trial days will take place after the February half-term week. If you are a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a specialist setting, we would love to hear from you.
Please note, this is a temp to perm opportunity.
