The post holder in conjunction with consultant colleagues provide a service within Gynaecology which include outpatient clinics, procedure clinics (Colposcopy/ Hysteroscopy) and elective theatre sessions. There is also a requirement to participate in the emergency in week and out of hours emergency oncall.
We are looking for someone competent in managing complex Gynaecological cases including open and MAS approaches and ATSMs (SITMS) in Benign Gynaecology.
In conjunction with the Directorate Management team and colleagues to take active role in developing and implementing new ways of working in line with modernisation principles and fit for the future. There is also a requirement to ensure the requirements of clinical governance are met.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide a service in Gynaecology including hot week and on-call commitments.
2. Partake a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department. This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents.
3. Take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
4. Ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
5. To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
6. Play a full part in the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
7. In conjunction with consultant colleagues, to take responsibility for and devote time to teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required for junior medical staff.
8. In conjunction with the Directorate Management Team, Consultant & Senior colleagues, to play a full part in developing & implementing new ways of working in line with modernisation principles and fit for the future.
9. To follow Trust’s agreed policies and procedures.
10. To take responsibility for your own Health & Safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.
11. To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.

Person specification
Education
* Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC.
* On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of interview.
* MRCOG.
* Higher Medical Degree.
Experience
* Competent in managing complex Gynaecological cases including open and MAS approaches.
* ATSMs in Benign Gynaecology.
* Experience in open/laparoscopic surgery.
* ATSMs (SITMS) in non-cancerous vulval disease.
* ATSMs (SITMS) in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology.
Ability/ Skills
* Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team within a level one cancer centre.
Research and Audit
* Evidence of audit/research and the implementation of change following the audit.
* Relevant research published in peer review journal.
Education and Teaching
* Evidence of contributing to departmental teaching programmes.
Management Skills
* Demonstrate effective team working skills.
* Time management/organisational ability. An example maybe they have developed and run training programmes.
* Proven knowledge of systems and process of NHS or equivalent.
* Sense of understanding and commitment to corporate responsibility.
