Based onsite in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, you'll play a key role in developing high-performance subsea technology, ensuring reliability in some of the most challenging environments. The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for:
Leading mechanical engineering design projects from concept through to manufacturing.
Providing technical leadership and supervision in mechanical design.
Producing detailed engineering designs, calculations, and documentation to ISO 9001 standards.
Overseeing structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and power transmission systems.
Ensuring the suitability of designs for subsea and harsh environments, considering material science, corrosion effects, and hydraulic sealing systems.
Supporting offsite engineering, customer training, and product integration.
Providing technical support to production, logistics, and integration teams.
Working within project budgets and timescales, ensuring compliance with company procedures and international standards.
Instructing, mentoring, and training subordinate engineering staff.The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will have:
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 6 years' experience in an engineering design environment.
Expertise in structural analysis, scoping calculations, and FEA (Ansys/SolidWorks Simulation).
Strong knowledge of mechanisms, kinematics, power transmission, and manufacturing techniques.
Experience with material selection, corrosion protection, hydraulic sealing systems, and inspection/testing requirements.
Ability to lead projects, liaise with clients, internal teams, and third parties, and deliver results within deadlines.
Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD/DraftSight, SolidWorks).
Desirable: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, offshore experience, and ROV system design expertise
