The Pingle Academy
The Pingle Academy is a successful and well-respected comprehensive school which became an academy in May 2017 as part of Affinity Learning Partnership. We currently cater for 1381 students aged 11 - 19 and have been oversubscribed for the past five years. The academy enjoys an excellent reputation.
Our academy is truly inclusive and includes Enhanced Resource Sections for students with EHCPs who need a higher level of support. In addition, we have our own alternative provision which caters for a small number of students who find mainstream classes challenging. Our staff share responsibility for creating a safe and pleasant place to learn and work and are proud of our efforts to educate and care for all our students, whatever their abilities, to ensure that every student’s potential is fulfilled.
We are proud of our caring and inclusive community, and our values of WORK HARD, BE KIND, CHOOSE WISELY, are present in all aspects of academy life.
In 2019, the academy enjoyed its best ever results, both at GCSE and A Level. In October 2021 OFSTED judged the academy as GOOD in all areas.
Our priority is to help parents/carers prepare their children for adult lives in a rapidly changing world. We aim to provide a broad and stimulating curriculum, we set high expectations for work and behaviour and we encourage students to aspire to these standards with confidence.
We value our staff, ensuring that we look after and care for their wellbeing through professional development, mental health provision and supporting staff with their workload.
The Enhanced Resource Units
The Pingle Academy has 2 successful Enhanced Resource Units (ERS) with 61 students currently on roll. Our inclusive Academy welcomes students with significant learning and sensory needs within the Learning Support Base (LSB) and the Autism Resource Unit (ARC).
Our ERS currently has 7 SEND teachers so you will be joining an experienced and established team.
Our students encompass a wide spectrum of abilities and our curriculum gives them a range of knowledge, skills and experiences, working from Entry level to GCSE, from individual starting points.
Alongside the National Curriculum, students have access to Lifeskills, Forest School, Duke of Edinburgh Award and SEMH support.
We have a full-time Family Support Worker within the department as well as an experienced Teaching Assistant Team. We can offer a caring and supportive working environment and professional development of a high standard.
The Candidate
We are looking for an inspiring teacher to work within our Enhanced Resource Unit (ERS) who is able to ensure our students achieve success. You will ensure students reach their potential, both academically and socially, so they are ready to take their next steps into the community and employment once they leave us.
Classes are small compared to mainstream school. The post will suit a teacher who will take ownership of their subjects and is willing to be flexible to meet the needs of the pupils. You will work as part of a wider team of specialist SEND teachers and teaching assistants to provide a rounded educational journey, within the supportive environment, for our students.
We would welcome applications from candidates who have a background in SEND or are looking to develop their careers into this specialism. Primary trained candidates are also encouraged to apply. We are looking for a passionate person with excellent communication skills and a desire to make a difference to the academic outcomes and life chances of our students as they prepare for adulthood. Applications are sought from high calibre professionals who have the skills and talent to support our academy.
