Main duties of the job
* The post holder will be an expert practitioner, resource and role model in order to develop and maintain an effective clinical learning environment. They will provide leadership and support to the Sonographers and trainee Sonographers to ensure patients receive high quality care.
* The role will involve extensive engagement with the Directorate, the Divisions and clinical areas within the Trust to build relationships with Modality Leads, Senior and Trainee Sonographers, doctors and education leads.
* The post holder will understand the drivers and challenges in supporting, supervising and assessing students and apprentices in different service areas along with close partnership working with placement teams in our partnering HEI (Higher Education Institution).
* The post holder will be responsible for ongoing development and implementation of innovative training, maximising productivity of available resources.
* The post holder will be responsible for developing the existing postgraduate sonographer workforce to work at the top of their license, in partnership with specialty consultant radiologists.
* The post holder will be responsible to maintain and improve the Sonography Training Programme, and support the trainees achieving a high standard of practice.
* The role will also involve organisation and support for training for medical staff either in general rotation or speciality training, in close partnership with the Imaging training programme directors (TPDs).

Essential
* First level degree in related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence.
* Recognised postgraduate qualification in ultrasound and/or equivalent level of knowledge gained through extensive experience.
Desirable
* Registered Sonographer (HCPC / RCT/ NMC / GMC).
* Leadership qualifications and/or experience.
* Post Graduate Certificate of Education or equivalent.
Experience
Essential
* Proven and current experience of Ultrasound underpinned by theory (acquired through degree, post graduate study and significant experience).
* Service development experience, delivering clinical quality improvements and successful service change.
* Experience in hospital setting.
Desirable
* Leadership qualifications and/or experience.
* Formal teaching practice in HEIs.
* Experience in mentoring and assessment of sonography trainees.
