Radiology is a busy department providing X-Ray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound services. We provide 24/7 diagnostic services to the rest of the hospital using both specific Radiology IT packages alongside Trust-wide systems to provide integrated care.
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced Admin Assistant to join our friendly team based within Radiology.
The successful candidate should provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients and visitors, arrange appointments, and liaise with all involved in the Imaging process to ensure the best service for our Patients.
Ideally, you should possess excellent communication, organisational, and investigative skills and have a flexible approach to tasks, with experience working in a busy office environment. In addition, experience working within the NHS would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for candidates with excellent interpersonal skills, dedication, and the confidence to deal with a wide range of matters with tact and diplomacy. Patient administration experience, experience in working with people, and the ability to adapt to change while managing and prioritising a heavy workload in a fast-developing environment is essential.
Working as part of an efficient team processing information on the radiology CRIS system, liaising with clinical colleagues to triage referrals and ensuring Trust waiting times are met, paying meticulous attention to detail.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale, as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
* Greeting patients and visitors attending the department
* Accurately entering details onto the Radiology Information System
* Handling queries, liaising with other departments and colleagues when necessary
* Liaising regularly with secondary care staff, GP surgeries, etc.
* Providing a fast and responsive appointments service to patients
* Receiving and handling information regarding referrals to the service, within set timescales
* Ensuring waiting time targets are met (including 2 week referrals)
* Sending and receiving images via the IEP
* Contacting patients regarding appointments and making changes if necessary
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education, minimum of 3 GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above, including English
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Administration (or working towards)
Experience
* Experience working in a busy office environment, dealing with patients by telephone, and the ability to solve problems.
* Previous experience working within the NHS and/or a Radiology Department would be beneficial.
Special Requirements
* Ability to work as a member of a team.
* Good IT knowledge including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Knowledge of Data Protection and Caldicott Principles, understanding the requirement to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to travel to local sites if required.
