We are looking for a dedicated School Cleaner to join our team and help maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic learning environment for students and staff. This role is essential in ensuring the school meets high cleanliness and health standards, including handling hazardous materials when necessary.
As a school cleaner, you will be responsible for cleaning designated areas of the school, following health and safety procedures, and ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard. This includes general cleaning duties, waste disposal, sanitisation of high-touch surfaces, and responding to spills and hazardous material clean-ups when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Clean and maintain allocated areas of the school site in line with the daily/weekly work rota.
* Vacuum carpets, sweep and mop uncarpeted floors, and machine clean where practicable.
* Empty bins and remove waste to designated areas, ensuring correct disposal procedures are followed.
* Clean and sanitise classrooms, communal areas, offices, and high-touch surfaces such as desks, door handles, and light switches.
* Safely handle and clean hazardous materials, including bodily fluids, using appropriate PPE and following school procedures.
* Maintain toilet and washroom hygiene, including replenishing toiletries and cleaning basins, tiles, and mirrors.
* Clean internal and external door glass, windows at ground level (up to 11 feet), and light fixtures as required.
* Carry out deep cleaning of internal surfaces and perform periodic maintenance cleans during school holidays.
* Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations and school health and safety policies.
* Report any maintenance or health and safety concerns to the relevant staff.
