Description:
Part-time SENIOR DENTAL OFFICER is required to start for 1 day per week (FLEXIBLE WITH THE DAY ON OFFER) in HMP Warren Hill near Woodbridge, Suffolk.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide a full range of oral healthcare, screening and preventive care to patients of the Community Dental Services.
2. Comprehensive clinical assessment of patients, maintaining essential clinical records.
3. Provide comprehensive assessment and care for patients with urgent dental needs.
4. Provide routine dental care, ensuring awareness of excluded items.
5. Embed oral health advice in all aspects of care.
6. Utilise dental software programmes to record dental care.
7. Manage patient pain control and anxiety during dental treatment.
8. Awareness of clinical management relevant to Prisons.
9. Undertake annual mandatory training relevant to Prison settings.
10. Provide routine and surgical extractions.
11. Provide restorative or prosthetic replacement of teeth.
12. Develop team dentistry involving dental therapists/hygienists and dental nurses.
13. Assist the Chief Operations Officer in the management and development of the Prison Dental Service.
14. Participate in in-service training and provide clinical supervision.
15. Engage in Clinical Governance and quality initiatives.
16. Maintain accurate records of dental care and management.
17. Undertake duties in other prison sites or clinics as required.
18. Ensure security within the department and establishment.
19. Maintain compliance with security requirements and manage healthcare equipment.
20. Assume responsibility for the security of issued keys and radios.
All sessions fall within the period 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday, with a 1 hour period for lunch.

2. Local Area Team confirmation
3. GDC certificate
4. UK Blood test report showing Hep B immunisation and titre levels, Hep C, HIV and TB results dated within last 5 years
5. Indemnity certificate
6. Passport
7. Enhanced DBS (within the last 12-36 months)
8. Clinical references covering places of employment over past 2 years (minimum 2 referees)
9. Degree certificate
10. CPR/AED/Medical Emergencies certificate dated within the last 12 months
