This is an exciting new opportunity for 2 Outreach and Support Workers within our Adult Autism Service, who will be based at Space4Autism in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
You will be working to support adults from the age of 16 or 18 years upwards (depending on locality) who are autistic or who are on the waiting list for an autism assessment.
These new posts will work directly in partnership with local autism hubs and relevant third sector partners (charities, community interest and not-for-profit organisations) to develop and deliver improved support in the community under the direction of qualified practitioners and provide follow-up support to bespoke interventions.
We would welcome applications from people with lived experience and will look to offer support with the application and recruitment process.
Although these are full-time posts of 37.5hrs per week, we would consider applications for part-time working on an individual basis - just ask for more information about this.
Responsibilities:
1. Work under the direction of qualified practitioners providing follow-up support to bespoke interventions.
2. Provide basic information, advice, guidance and training to other health professionals supporting autistic adults.
3. Work to reduce the barriers faced by autistic adults when accessing mainstream services and encourage the knowledge base and skill set of other commissioned services in providing reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act.
4. Work with colleagues, including lived experience advisors, to develop and maintain resources for autistic adults and adults referred for an assessment as well as health and social care staff.

Please inform the team if you have any special support needs to be considered as part of the interview and selection processes.
