Howdens is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Energy Manager to be based at our site in Howden, East Yorkshire, reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering. The successful candidate will oversee and optimise energy usage across our organisation, report on group-wide energy and carbon data, develop and implement energy reduction strategies, and stay abreast of the latest technologies and trends in energy management

What Will You Be Doing as an Energy Manager?
- Energy Usage Reporting: Collect, analyse, and report on energy consumption data across all company sites, providing detailed reports to senior management.
- Carbon Data Management: Track and report on carbon emissions data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards while developing strategies to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
- Energy Reduction Strategies: Identify opportunities for energy savings, develop comprehensive energy reduction plans, and implement and monitor their effectiveness.
- Energy Solutions: Research and recommend innovative energy solutions and technologies, leading the implementation of energy-saving projects and initiatives.
- Technology and Trends: Stay informed on the latest energy management technologies and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations to integrate new technologies into the company’s practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to promote energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, while providing training and support to staff on best practices.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all energy management activities comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.
What Do You Need to Qualify for the Energy Manager Role?
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in energy management, preferably in an engineering or industrial setting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of energy management systems and software.
- Familiarity with regulations and standards related to energy and carbon management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Leadership, cultural, and organisational awareness.
- Strong people management and relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional organisation and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated financial and organisational competency.
- Certification or accreditation in an energy management field is highly desirable.
- Experience with renewable energy technologies.
- Project management experience.
